Our JCK Talks lineup for 2019 is rich in information that will help retailers adapt to and thrive in our ever-changing industry. Discussions focus on such hot topics as lab-grown diamonds, the evolving consumer, digital marketing, and social media.
Opening day for JCK Las Vegas is set for May 31st, with a robust lineup of educational events scheduled every day through closing on June 3rd. But why wait? You can start arming yourself with knowledge a day before the show’s official kickoff: at JCK Talks on May 30! This stellar lineup of sessions on budding trends for 2019 clues you in on what to look for once you hit the show floor.
To launch the JCK Talks 2019 trends-related content, Jen Cullen Williams, managing director of Luxury Brand Group, will moderate a panel of experts, including National Jeweler’s Ashley Davis; Lauren Eggersten of Who What Wear; Shelley Brown of The Knot; and Nicole Wegman, the Ring Concierge. “In a time when social trends move at a rapid pace, how do buyers and retailers decide what’s ‘in’ and what’s ‘out’?” asks Cullen Williams. “This trend-focused panel will dive into how expert market reporters discover jewelry trends currently happening, from bridal to fashion, and what jewelers should keep on their radars for the future.”
Next up: Brecken Branstrator, National Jeweler’s senior editor, gemstones, will moderate a panel on 2019 gemstone trends, featuring Gary Roskin, Executive Director, International Colored Gemstone Association, and Gem Legacy’s Roger Dery.
JCK publisher Mark Smelzer will moderate a discussion on the topic of LGBTQ couples and proposals, with participation by @thirdcoastgems’ Benjamin Guttery and Severine Ferrari, editor-in-chief of Engagement 101. “I think we have reached a stage now where it is important for jewelers to understand Millennials’ and Gen Z’s view on romantic relationships, and what that means for jewelry,” says Ferrari. “Even though only a segment of their customers will belong to the LGBTQ community, or define themselves as gender fluid, using language that’s gender-neutral and not assuming that there’s just one particular jewelry profile gay couples will fit are important things to understand. The rise of the double-proposal—one of my favorite trends right now—is growing among couples within and outside of the LGBTQ community, and I’m looking forward to discussing how it’s an opportunity for jewelers.”
Rounding out the day are a discussion on the 2019 Pantone Color of the Year and a session titled Upcoming Trends: Circle of Color and Future Forecasts, featuring speaker Barbara Ross-Inamorati, president of Evocateur, alongside CJDG executive director Marylouise Sirignano Lugosch.
