A return to the Sands Expo and the Venetian felt like a triumph for JCK Las Vegas this year. An energetic vibe pulsed through the show—the DJ spinning tunes and the Instagram-worthy installations throughout the show floor generated only part of that.

Days on the show floor were well spent, with exhibitors new and veteran displaying a dazzling—and often intensely colorful—assortment of items.

For many, the show’s new location appeared to coincide with a decision to try new things. Brands and designers stepped out of the proverbial box, experimenting with new aesthetics, styles, and stones. And, of course, there were plenty of new jewelry collections on hand.

At Omi Privé, an opal ring surrounded by an assortment of tiny glittering colored stones offered a visual departure from the brand’s signature styles.

The stone that sparked the talk of the floor was grandidierite, found at Omi Privé and elsewhere. This rare teal-blue gem burst onto the scene, creating much intrigue.

Mastoloni, home of some of the most instantly classic pearl jewelry, showcased a new collection called Bella Luna, combining pearl and moonstone in modern, fashion-forward silhouettes. The pair of earrings pictured was a favorite.

Cameo & Beyond was a must-see. The business transited from cameo creator to jewelry designer, taking the family tradition of making and selling only cameos and turning it into a business that offers finished goods. As founder Francesco Paolillorelayed, this is a young venture with a lot of history—new, but with deep roots. As for the jewelry, it’s a refreshing take on the cameo, with chic, compelling styles that will appeal to all ages and tastes. (Pictured top)

Blue Ray Diamonds shared its new creation, the Super Halo, an engagement ring setting with pavé diamonds throughout, even underneath the center stone, for a supremely sparkling look. As owner Gary Takessiansaid, the halo style is on its way up, so keep an eye out for its next iteration.

The styles featured here barely scratch the surface of the many discoveries made at the 2019 edition of JCK Las Vegas, but they’re certainly exciting, compelling ones.
