The De Beers Institute of Diamonds is the only international laboratory that grades natural, untreated diamonds. It is run though a black box system that helps ensure the integrity of the results, and it publishes its grading standards for full transparency.

The institute also provides expert diamond education with courses that span the entire diamond pipeline, from diamond mining to the sale of rough diamonds to the creation and marketing of diamond jewelry.
