There’s no shortage of high-end auctions in New York, particularly
those featuring stunning jewels. Consider the April 20 Magnificent Jewels
auction at Sotheby’s, which featured an internally flawless pinkish-orange
diamond ring that sold for $3.1 million (get the full scoop on the last
page—Brilliant—of JCK’s June issue). While the piece stands out as one of the
prettier and pricier gems sold from that auction, plenty of other contenders
