One year ago, on this page, we introduced the new staff of JCK, a collection of veterans and new faces, brought together when the magazine relocated to New York City.
This team set out to redesign and rethink the suite of publications and marketing vehicles produced by the JCK Publishing Group.
Our first relaunched product was this magazine, JCK. At the time, we were definitely thrilled with the outcome and began hoping we might get some publishing industry recognition for our accomplishment, perhaps an award for our new design.
Well, we happily did much better than that. I’m thrilled to announce that JCK magazine just won Folio magazine’s Eddie Award in the retail trade category!
Folio is the business magazine for the magazine publishing industry, and the Eddie is their annual award given to the publication that best delivers on its editorial mission. Our competitors for this award were all the trade magazines in the nation that are written for retailers of any kind—not just the jewelry category. We are truly honored by this award.
Special congratulations go to Hedda Schupak, our editor-in-chief, Rich Dalglish, our managing editor, and their team of expert editors. I’ve often said a magazine is nothing more than a collection of voices, and theirs are amazing.
Special thanks also to Todd Gast, our art director, and JC Suares, the design consultant who created JCK‘s new format and consulted with us throughout the year.
It is our ongoing goal to continually improve the magazine with one key objective in mind: providing our readers with a book that is informative, entertaining, and inspiring. We hope you enjoy the results.
Happy New Year!
PS We’ll do a group shot this year, too. We figured we’d wait until our entire staff is in town—which will be later this month—so look for the picture this spring!
