Watches: From James Bond to Harrison Ford

Bondage in Columbia

The museum of the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors (nawcc.org), in Columbia, Pa., is running an exhibit titled “Bond Watches…James Bond Watches,” guest curated by Dell Deaton (jamesbondwatches.com). Through April 30, 2011, the museum will display timepieces worn by the fictional character in both novels and movies.

A special feature is the pairing—for the first time ever—of the Rolex Explorer owned by Bond creator Ian Fleming along with his manuscripts. It’s also the first time that model has been exhibited in the United States.

NAWCC promises “special events and programming focusing on the lifestyle and history of the character of James Bond.” No word on whether Q will be available to demonstrate secret weapons hidden inside the watches.

Harrison Ford and Hamilton Pitch In for the Planet

Hamilton has joined forces with actor Harrison Ford to create the Khaki Team Earth collection, which supports Team Earth (teamearth.com), a global sustainability movement dealing with such issues as climate change, water conservation, food, and health. It’s the second time Hamilton and Ford have collaborated on a watch collection to benefit Conservation International (conservation.org). Suggested retail price for the Khaki Team Earth is $895.
