Kassoy Installs Hotline on Floor of DDC

Kassoy, a supplier of tools and equipment to the jewelry trades, and the New York Diamond Dealer’s Club have announced the installation of a telephone hotline on the floor of the bourse directly to Kassoy’s offices in Hicksville, N.Y., enabling club members to get priority handling of their orders.

Color Story Wins Golden Apple

Luxury jewelry maker Color Story recently won the Jewelers of America Golden Apple award for innovation in marketing for its “The Enhanced Diamond Experience” campaign. The campaign includes a “Design Your Own Colored Diamond Watch” Web site feature.

Dalumi Wins Outstanding Exporter to Japan

On March 16 in Tel Aviv, Israel, Dalumi was named best exporter of diamonds to Japan in 2005 by The Israel-Japan Friendship Society and Chamber of Commerce.

Japanese ambassador to Israel H.E. Jun Yokota, complimented Dalumi president Asher Dalumi for the important role Dalumi has played in the Japanese diamond market. Dalumi’s exports to Japan were $20 million in 2005.

National Chain Group Picked for Documentary

The Discovery Channel has selected National Chain Group in Warwick, R.I., for a documentary on how chain is made. The segment will air on the channel’s program, How It’s Made. The episode will give viewers an inside look at the manufacturing process National Chain uses to produce gold chains from raw materials to finished product.

Sheetal Makes a Cricket Connection

Sheetal Group chairman Govind L. Kakadia was the winning bidder of a cricket bat during a charity auction conducted recently by the Diamond Trading Company at the Queens Club, London. The bat was signed by De Beers chairman Nicky Oppenheimer. The auction benefited Hope and Homes for Children, a charity that helps underprivileged youth.

More than 100 people representing DTC sightholders attended the event, which raised $25,000. Kakadia won the bat with a bid of $1,800. Other items offered for auction by the DTC included a Millennium hourglass, a skiing holiday, and a box for 12 at the 2006 Queen’s Tennis Tournament.

Hope and Homes for Children runs orphanages in 13 countries of Eastern Europe and Africa. Its work varies from country to country, from rehabilitation of children living in state institutions in Romania to supporting AIDS orphans in Africa.
