The World Gold Council-Americas has announced several changes in its U.S. jewelry organization, based in New York.
John Calnon has been appointed to the new position of international jewelry director. Calnon rejoined the WGC in 2001 as director, jewelry-Americas, after five years at QVC where he was vice president, jewelry merchandise. Calnon first joined the WGC in 1991 after a career in retailing, including four years with Zale Corp.
Rick Bannerot has become vice president, advertising, for the WGC’s U.S. jewelry programs. Bannerot, who joined the WGC in 2000, was associate vice president of advertising at Rolex Watch USA. Immediately prior to joining the WGC, he was advertising and marketing director at Mayors’ Jewelers in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and an interim managing director at Hill & Knowlton Public Relations’ consumer marketing practice in New York.
Duvall O’Steen has been appointed to the new position of manager, jewelry public relations and promotion, following three years as marketing coordinator for U.S. jewelry. O’Steen joined the WGC in 1999 as a project coordinator. Her previous experience was in consumer relations and training in the automobile industry.
