Kurt S. Adler, chairman and founder of Kurt S. Adler Inc., passed away on Thanksgiving evening, Nov. 25, at his home in Manhattan.

Mr. Adler, who founded his firm in 1946, is credited with revolutionizing Christmas in America by introducing a European flavor and a sense of style and fashion to holiday decorating. The “Santa’s World” brand became renowned for beautiful and innovative creations.

Mr. Adler was a recipient of The Entrepreneur of the Year Award and an honored member of the NOEL Hall of Fame. He also received numerous industry commendations, including the Giftware Industry’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

He is survived by his four children, who will continue to manage the business—Howard and Clifford (co-presidents), Karen (CFO), and Richard (VP)—as well as his wife, Marianne.
