Luxury watch Blancpain, a Swatch Group brand, in June acquired Vica Sàrl and with it the Vincent Calabrese luxury watch brand, which was owned by Swiss watchmaker Vincent Calabrese. He’s the cofounder of Switzerland’s Horological Academy of Independent Creators and is known for creating Corum‘s Golden Bridge watch and designing Blancpain’s flying tourbillon watch.

Signet Group shareholders approved the transfer of its primary listing to the New York Stock Exchange and the relocation of company headquarters to Bermuda. The company, headquartered in London, has listed its shares on the London Stock Exchange.

De Beers‘ Diamond Trading Company announced that its rough diamond prices rose an average of 16 percent since the beginning of 2008. The strongest increases were for rough that produces polished stones of SI or better and 1.00 ct. or more, the DTC said.

Jewelers’ Security Alliance has retained George Slicho, former senior vice president for loss prevention at Zale Corp., as a special consultant. He will work primarily on JSA’s project to develop local crime prevention networks of jewelers and police. He also will assist JSA with its extensive work involving retail jewelry chains.
