To protect jewelers from claims of discrimination, sexual harassment, and wrongful termination, Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company, Neenah, Wis., has formed a partnership with Shand Morahan & Co. to offer employment practices liability insurance (EPLI).

Available in all 50 states, EPLI is a broad coverage that pays for defense costs and damages for employee claims relating to age, sex, and racial discrimination; sexual harassment; and wrongful promotion, discipline, and termination. This type of coverage is excluded from most commercial general liability and umbrella insurance policies.

Shand Morahan will offer EPLI policyholders free loss-prevention services such as annual seminars, a telephone hotline, and a loss control manual. The insurer-a legal underwriter of EPLI for companies with one to 150 employees-is part of the Markel Corp.
