The longtime relationship between Robert Lee Morris and clothing designer Donna Karan renewed itself during the Fall 2001 runway shows when Morris designed a line of gold jewelry for Karan’s collection.
The 18k gold line, in bold geometric shapes and hammered surfaces, was a first for Morris, who has designed sterling silver lines for fashion shows but never anything in gold. Morris, who also designed a jewelry line for Karan’s premiere collection—in 1985—is perhaps best known for his ability to span the gap between fashion and jewelry design.
