Manufacturing Jewelers & Suppliers of America (MJSA) hosted a New York regional meeting in August titled “Safe and Secure.” The event—the first in a series—focused on how businesses can ensure that they are in compliance with local safety regulations, practice safe shop procedures, and protect against potential risks. Partial funding for the event was provided by a grant from the JCK Jewelry Industry Fund.
The agenda included presentations by Keith Horn, Health Safety and Environmental Manager of United Precious Metal Refining, on how to avoid costly fines and lengthy inspections by government agencies; Gary D. Salt, president of Risk Management Consulting Associates, on identifying types of needed coverage in insurance policies; and Rob Reetz, DVX security manager of Federal Express, on how businesses can ship their products safely at substantial savings.
