If his wives and companions over the years have been many, it seems Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger is a loyalist when it comes to watch brands. And one particular mark stands out as his favorite: Heuer (before Techniques d’Avant Garde, or TAG, acquired the brand in 1985).
In several photographs from the 1970s, a young, full-lipped Jagger can be seen sporting the Heuer Carrera. In one black-and-white image from 1972, Jagger, alongside John Lennon and Yoko Ono, wears the watch at the Record Plant in New York City.
In this 1973 photograph of Jagger, the eye is naturally drawn to the Carrera. Zoom in and you can see the blue-and-gray dial and its thin, painted white hands—a characteristic of the second execution of the Reference 1153N.
The Carrera appears again in another 1973 photo of Jagger on a yacht in an oversize blue newspaper boy hat and a garish Hawaiian shirt, promoting a concert at the Honolulu International Center. Jagger, according to Jeff Stein, writing on the website On the Dash, was clearly a Heuer guy.
