The Jewelry Information Center (JIC) has announced the creation of a new annual awards program that will recognize journalists and other members of the media for superior coverage of fine jewelry and related issues. The first “Gem Awards” will be given on Nov. 13, 2001, during a gala presentation dinner and ceremony in New York. Austrian crystal-maker Swarovski is sponsoring the event and will also create the trophies for the winners. A significant portion of the proceeds from the awards dinner will benefit the Jewelers Charity Fund for Children.
In addition, JIC will design a special industry award and present it to a member of the trade who has demonstrated outstanding creativity and expertise in communications and marketing.
