Singer-songwriter and Grammy nominee Jewel gave an outstanding performance at the U.S. launch of Gold Expressions: The Language of Italian Design 2005 collection, an all-new collection of gold jewelry.
The event was held Thursday, June 2, at the Wynn Las Vegas, during the Signature Salons jewelry show. Sponsors included the World Gold Council, AngloGold Ashanti, the Condé Nast Media Group, Roberto Coin, Vicenza Fair, and the VNU Expositions Jewelry Group.
Gold-jewelry products from 48 Italian designers and manufacturers were displayed at the event, which offered many American retailers their first opportunity to see the Gold Expressions 2005 collection. The all-new collections are the result of a WGC research-based product-development initiative, designed to further reinvigorate the style and design of the gold-jewelry category.
For her performance, Jewel wore pieces from Roberto Coin’s newest collection, Perl’Amore. A fan of Coin’s, Jewel commissioned him to design an exclusive 18k gold guitar strap. Coin, who has created gold dresses and bustiers using his exclusive weaving technology, said this was the first request he’s gotten for a guitar strap. “I cannot think of anything more appropriate for someone as dynamic and talented as Jewel to express her uniqueness and beauty,” he said.
Separately, Grammy Award– winner Alicia Keys was featured in a four-page consumer advertising campaign for Gold Expressions. The insert ran in the June issues of Vogue, Vanity Fair, W, and Architectural Digest, and featured Keys wearing Roberto Coin jewelry. Each image is coupled with a “gold expression” penned by Keys herself.
