The 22nd International Jewellery, Silver, Watch, and Equipment Fair, which took place in Istanbul, Turkey, in March, featured 924 exhibitors and more than 28,581 visitors. Of these, 6,072 buyers came from 81 countries, and 649 representatives of both the local Turkish press and the international press attended.
Russia accounted for 9.4 percent of all foreign visitors to the Turkish fair. Greece followed with 7.3 percent, Iran with 5.4 percent, Israel with 5.3 percent, Bulgaria with 4.5 percent, the United States with 4.1 percent, Syria and Ukraine with 3.6 percent each, Germany with 3.5 percent, Romania with 3.2 percent, and Italy with 2.9 percent. Also present were visitors from Algeria, Belgium, India, Kosovo, Lebanon, Macedonia, Serbia, Spain, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and other countries.
Among exhibitors, 59.5 percent were Turkish and 40.5 percent were international.
Murat Akman, manager of the World Gold Council in Turkey, called the successful fair a critical indicator of business not only in Turkey but also around the world, in light of rising gold prices. Product at the fair was on trend with product around the world, as well, he said.
