Israeli president Moshe Katzav and his wife Gila toured the Israel diamond complex last week, where they were hosted by Exchange president Shmuel Schnitzer. The pair visited the bourse trading floor as well as the adjacent Harry Oppenheimer Diamond Museum. Schnitzer told his guests that Israel’s diamond exports have increased this year and that prospects for the industry were positive. Katzav praised the diamond industry’s contribution to the development of Israel’s economy. He expressed his hope that exports will continue to grow and promised to help turn the bourse into a free-trade zone.
