Glashütte Original’s Senator chronometer was named men’s Watch of the Year by a reader’s survey conducted by a German newspaper and magazine. For women’s watches, the top vote getter was Baume & Mercier’s Hampton Class 8811.

MJSA Expo New York, held March 14–17, attracted 3,000 attendees, up from last year, the organization announced. Despite a slight weather-related decline on the first day, attendance rose 5 percent Monday and 10 percent Tuesday.

Rio Tinto‘s inaugural jewelry-business-development symposium and design showcase will be held in Chicago July 16–18. The event will bring together many of Rio Tinto’s Select Diamantaires retailers and buying groups.

Court

Bidz.com announced that a case against it has been dismissed. The plaintiff and her attorneys accepted $20,000 in exchange for the dismissal. The lawsuit alleged that the company engaged in unfair business practices by misrepresenting the value of its merchandise and by “false” or shill bidding.

HRD Antwerp opened its first gemological lab outside Antwerp, Belgium, in Istanbul, Turkey.
