Last fall’s Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair, held Sept. 6-10 in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, attracted 15,595 buyers from around the world, according to the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the fair organizer. The fair featured 774 exhibitors from 13 countries and regions.
Buyers from outside Hong Kong totaled 5,671 from 4,214 companies, an increase of 1.8% over last year’s figures. The top 10 countries in terms of visitors were China, Japan, Taiwan, the United States, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Germany, India, and Singapore.
For the first time, fair organizers commissioned A.C. Nielsen, a professional research company, to poll more than 1,000 exhibitors and buyers during the first two days of the fair. The survey was aimed at collecting participants’ views on market prospects, the impact of China’s impending accession to the World Trade Organization, Hong Kong’s strength in developing ODM and brand name trends, and e-commerce applications.
This year’s show is scheduled for Sept 5-9. For information, contact the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, 219 E. 46th St., New York, NY 10017; (212) 838-8688, fax (212) 838-8941.
