The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) will hold its annual Career Fair in two parts, on two coasts: on July 27 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York, and on Oct. 12 at GIA’s Robert Mouawad Campus in Carlsbad, Calif.
GIA calls the Career Fair the single most important recruitment day in the gem and jewelry industry. The event brings together the industry’s top employers with those who aspire to careers in retail, design, manufacturing, gem wholesaling, marketing, laboratory services, and other areas. Last year’s Career Fair attracted firms such as Fortunoff’s, Christie’s, Henry Dunay Designs, M. Fabrikant & Sons, Tiffany & Co., and Ben Bridge Jewelers as well as more than 1,700 job seekers on both coasts.
In addition offering job seekers the opportunity to meet with prospective employers, the Career Fair includes seminars and workshops on market trends, hiring strategies, résumé design, and interview skills. One-on-one counseling is available for those who prefer a more personal approach. For information call (800) 421-7250.
