Germany’s Chancellor Gerhard Schröder will help open Ambiente 2001 International Frankfurt Fair on Friday, Feb. 16. The opening ceremony will be held in Frankfurt Opera House.

Approximately 5,000 exhibitors-around half of them from more than 80 countries-are expected to take part in the world’s largest consumer goods fair, which will occupy more than 300,000 square meters of exhibition space, taking up the entire Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre from Feb. 16-20.

Ambiente is divided into three sections, and traditionally the section with the largest number of exhibitors is Präsent & Carat, with about 2,300 suppliers of gifts, jewelry, and clocks.
