The conflict diamond issue has made it to show business: It was mentioned in a James Bond film.
Die Another Day does not mention specifics or show any of the gruesome pictures typically associated with conflict diamonds, and the movie drops the issue as a plot line halfway through. But the term is repeated quite a bit, and diamonds play a role in the film’s convoluted plot, as the film’s villain cooks up phony Icelandic diamonds so he can get the conflict stones through regular channels.
