The Diamond Dealers Club has jumped on the Internet with an ambitious new Web site that includes a cyberspace trading floor.
Offerings at www.ddcny.com include news from the club and 47th Street; pages on the club’s history, by-laws, and membership guidelines; and a buying guide for consumers, including a tutorial on the four Cs.
The site’s boldest stroke is its password-protected online bourse, which lets members trade diamonds—and even diamond parcels—over the Internet.
The club is giving retailers the chance to join as “e-members” who can trade on the site. All site trades are subject to the standard club rules, including the option of taking disputes to arbitration. “This will bring the Diamond Dealers Club to people who are outside our geographical era,” said Yaron Hahami, co-chair of the DDC’s technology committee.
