The California Institute of Jewelry Training is accepting applications for its full-time residence FGA Diploma Course in Gemmology, scheduled to start on Sept. 13 and Nov. 1.
Gregory E. Sherman, FGA, DGA, G.G., a well known industry educator, directs the program at the Sacramento, Calif., school, which offers courses in gemology, jewelry appraising, jewelry manufacturing arts, and jewelry design. Industry veterans Michael Pace, FGA, DGA, and Iris Wilson, G.G., join Sherman as key instructors.
CIJT is an Allied Teaching Center of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A) and has been in business since 1979. In the Gem-A gemology courses, students work with classical gemological instruments and a large variety of polished and rough gems. Existing distance-learning students of the Gem-A gemology courses are encouraged to enroll in CIJT’s residence programs. The MasterValuer Program is also available for distance learning.
Other educational programs at CIJT include Jewelry Arts and Manufacturing, the Master Valuer Jewelry Appraisal Course, Retail Sales workshop, the DGA Diamonds Course from the Gemmological Association of Great Britain, a course in rough diamonds, and short weekend courses.
