Swiss watchmaker and jeweler Chopard USA has a new home for its North American headquarters—a five-story mansion in New York City. The company had outgrown its leased space in Rockefeller Center, says Chopard USA Ltd. president Thierry Chaunu. The new facility, at 21 E. 63rd St. between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue, also will serve as home to jeweler De Grisogono, Chopard’s sister company.
Previous owners of Chopard USA’s new home—which was built in 1900—include renowned jeweler Jean Schlumberger and singer Diana Ross, who used it as her private residence in the 1970s. Nafinsa Bank of Mexico purchased the building in 1994 and used it until the end of 2002 to host the Mexican government tourist office and trade expansion office as well as the bank’s trading facilities.
