Sir Elton John’s annual White Tie & Tiara Ball, which benefits The Elton John AIDS Foundation, was sponsored this year by Chopard. The event raised more than £4 million for the charity.
Mary J. Blige and Bryan Adams, along with Sir Elton, provided the entertainment. Celebrity onlookers included Elizabeth Hurley, Eva Herzigova, Kylie Minogue, Sting, Elle MacPherson, the Osbourne family, Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster, Alexandra von Furstenberg, Bob Geldof, and Michael Caine.
The White Tie & Tiara Ball 2004—a premiere social event in Great Britain—adopted Imperial China as its theme. The party featured Shaolin monks and a Chinese opera company during the cocktail reception, and Chopard’s creations were displayed in Chinese birdcages.
Chopard last year unveiled a collection of jeweled watches specifically created in honor of Sir Elton John as well as a popular racing-green steel chronograph. The watches are available in Chopard boutiques worldwide and are already raising funds for the Foundation. Chopard donates part of the proceeds of the sales of The Elton John Watch Collection to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
