Goldsmith Donald A. Stuart has been awarded Canada’s highest honor, The Order of Canada, in recognition of his work as a craftsman, educator, and volunteer. Stuart, a four-time winner of the “Diamonds Today” award, also is active within the community. He initiated a unique weaving project for Inuit women at Pangnirtung (Baffin Island), Nunavut, which today is the largest handweaving studio in Canada. For almost 30 years Stuart has been an active volunteer in groups such as the Ontario Crafts Council, the Canadian Crafts Council, Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, and the Society of North American Goldsmiths.
He is known for his work in inlay and cloisonné incrustation that he applies to both jewelry and hollowware.
