Brain Press has launched its Web site at www.brainpress.com. The site has a strong educational side and features comprehensive links to more than 600 pages of articles and book extracts related to jewelry making written by Charles Lewton-Brain. Subject areas include fold-forming, jewelry photography, gemology, business, catch building, jewelry construction methods, and critical ways of thinking about metal working.
The site section explaining fold-forming has many examples and links to articles on how to make specific folds. Fold-forming is a new way of working sheet metal rapidly with few tools that results in complex high-relief forms and textures. The fold-forming images are designed to enlarge as the user navigates over the page.
There are book descriptions with reviews of the professional-level books for the metals field that Brain Press sells.
The site also has links to and explanations of the history of the Ganoksin Project, of which Lewton-Brain was a co-founder. The Ganoksin Project is the world’s largest resource for the jewelry and metals field.
Lewton-Brain is an established author and art jeweler and the au-thor of books and research on methods of composing with patinas, gold applications and inlays, and enamel. He invented fold- forming, recognized as a new approach to metalworking.
