William Frederick of Chicago, Ill., has been named as the recipient of the Hans Christensen Sterling Silversmith’s Award, presented by the Society of American Silversmiths (SAS). Frederick was honored during SilverWorksIII, the Society’s annual silversmithing demonstration event held in Chepachet, R.I.
The award is named for the late Hans Christensen, a silversmith at Georg Jensen Silversmithy in Denmark and a professor of silversmithing at Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, N.Y. Frederick was presented with a full-size sterling and walnut planishing hammer patterned after a 50th birthday present given to Christensen in 1974 by his students.
