AGS Membership Numbers Soar in 2000

The American Gem Society reported an increase of 59% in new members for 2000 over 1999 figures. The AGS criteria for membership remain stringent, with turndown rates doubling in 2000 because of the tremendous increase in applications.

AGS members are reporting an increased interest in membership in the society among sales staffs. The number of Certified Sales Associates (CSA), a certification earned through AGS that does not require GIA training, increased 81% in 2000.
