Avi Paz, president of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses, held a meeting on the issue of undisclosed synthetic diamonds in Las Vegas on June 3.
Leading parties of the international diamond community, including the WFDB and the International Diamond Manufacturers Association, as well as leading diamond certification laboratories, attended the technical conference.
During the meeting, diamond grading labs agreed to reexamine the terms signed by diamond traders submitting their stones for evaluation. Diamond labs also emphasized their capability to determine whether a diamond is natural or manmade.
At the conference’s conclusion, WFDB, IDMA, and diamond laboratories confirmed their commitment to work toward the ethics of the diamond trade, ensuring that consumers receive full disclosure about the diamonds they purchase.
