On June 17, a worker was killed at the Jwaneng diamond mine in Botswana in an accident involving a crane, according to a statement posted online by mine owner Debswana.
“An employee of one of our business partners was fatally injured,” the statement said. “An investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing, and relevant stakeholders will be updated accordingly. Debswana is providing full support to the family, and we kindly request that they be accorded due respect and privacy during this difficult time.”
