What’s Your Inspiration? The Wat Arun Thai Temple for Judi Powers

During a trip to Thailand several years ago, Brooklyn, N.Y.–based jewelry designer Judi Powers fell under the spell of a riverside temple called Wat Arun or Temple of the Dawn. “As the sun was rising over this beautiful and sacred place, there was a warm golden glow in the sky,” Powers recollects. “Every time I saw that temple, I thought of gold and diamonds rising up into the sky.” Upon her return home, she made a pendant necklace and pair of earrings inspired by that special place, the designs of which feature her signature matte, pebble-like finish offset by the understated sparkle of rose and round brilliant-cut diamonds.
