Just as Lily Aldridge (right) brings light and a certain supermodel joie de vivre to Pascal Mouawad’s latest handiwork, so, too, did the design inspiration of fireworks illuminate the jeweler’s mind to create the 2015 Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra.
It may be coincidence that the Fireworks bra (made of 18k gold with 6,808 precious gems including diamonds, blue topaz, yellow sapphires, and pink quartz, among others) has a colorful and dramatic flair that is routinely found at Brazilian carnival, but the piece’s $2 million valuation is certainly intentional. Mouawad has a history of impressive bras: There were two last year worth $2 million apiece and one in 2013 with a $10 million price tag. Models walking the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which airs Dec. 8 on CBS, will also wear other Mouawad jewels, with the value for all totaling $15 million—or several lifetimes’ worth of Pink panties.
The 2015 Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra is loaded with nearly 7,000 individual gems set into 18k gold.
A matching belt sits on the hips. Both the belt and the bra took 685 hours of labor.
