World Diamond Council president Eli Izhakoff urged reforms at the
Inter-Sessional Meeting of the Kimberley Process.
Izhakoff suggested a full-time professional administration to manage day-to-day
affairs, changing the voting method to allow for more decisive action on
proposed resolutions and urged key industry bodies to enforce the KP’s chain of
warranties. He also called upon the KP to embrace full transparency by
reforming its rules on publishing internal reports.
His address also included a call for the immediate release of Farai Maguwu and
increased monitoring of the situation in Zimbabwe.
