Watchfinder & Co., the U.K.-based secondhand watch e-tailer, has named Arjen van de Vall (pictured) as its new CEO.
Van de Vall joined Watchfinder on April 1. He most recently served as president of Rakuten Europe, the Japanese e-commerce, fintech, digital content, and communications company. He has also worked as a senior marketing manager for Amazon Europe, according to LinkedIn.
Matt Bowling, who cofounded Watchfinder in 2002, and who has served as interim CEO for the last year, will remain with the business as a company director.
The site was purchased by Richemont in 2018. The acquisition remains an unusual instance of a watch company owning a secondhand watch e-tailer.
In a statement, Richemont CEO Jérôme Lambert said Watchfinder’s new leader will spearhead its expansion and tap its “tremendous potential.”
Earlier this month, Watchfinder announced it would no longer sell watches by gender.
