The repository intends to take legally owned ivory out of commercial circulation
The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS) will now accept donations of legally owned ivory products at its Office of Law Enforcement’s National Wildlife Repository in Commerce City, Colo.
The point of the repository is to help ivory owners safely and legally dispose of their products. Donations will be used for educational purposes and will not be returned to the commercial market.
Ivory items can be mailed along with a letter containing a description of the items, the name and address of the donor, and a statement that the donor is the sole owner and relinquishes all rights to the USFWS.
