The much-copied designer moved her famous fringe to the ears
Isabel Marant is one in a tiny group of famous fashion designers who kick-start trends that last for, literally, years—with impressive regularity.
The hidden wedge sneaker that swept the globe at every price point this past decade was initially her concept. And she almost single-handedly made Southwestern-style fringe and moccasins cool again.
Last night in Paris, the French designer took her love of fringe to the ears when supermodel Gigi Hadid closed Marant’s Fall 2017 runway presentation wearing a pair of bejeweled, silver-toned ear climbers that cascaded in strands nearly down to her shoulders (see photo, below).
The entire show—which included a variety of similarly bold earring looks—presented a compelling case for stocking oversize white metal earrings in the near future.

The other standout earring style at the show also boasted volume, yet was a bit airier. Composed of two stacked, bejeweled hexagons—one small, one big (see photo, below)—the ear baubles looked spectacular with Marant’s edgy, romantic collection.
