Tiffany & Co. has partnered with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) on a design competition that promotes inclusivity within the jewelry industry. The winner will receive $50,000 and a yearlong paid fellowship at Tiffany.
“The inaugural Tiffany & Co. x CFDA Jewelry Designer Award uplifts Tiffany Atrium’s commitment to fostering lasting change across the jewelry and design industries,” said Alexandre Arnault, Tiffany & Co. executive vice president, in a statement. “With a rich history of supporting inclusivity and creative excellence, Tiffany & Co. continues to be a champion for creative expression and social impact.”
“This first-ever award with a sole focus on jewelry is a testament to CFDA’s longstanding commitment and mission to celebrate American creative excellence,” added Steven Kolb, CFDA’s chief executive officer, in the statement. “Through the CFDA Impact program, we are thrilled to partner with Tiffany & Co., a cornerstone house with an iconic heritage, and Tiffany Atrium to identify and cultivate an inclusive next generation of American jewelry designers.”
The award is given as part of a mentoring program, described on the Tiffany website as “a multi-week learning experience and a uniquely curated design challenge.” Tiffany and CFDA seek jewelers who elevate the fine jewelry category amid the competitive ready-to-wear industries. Applicants “should demonstrate a love of creativity, inventiveness, and extraordinary savoir-faire that has been synonymous with Tiffany & Co. since its establishment in 1837,” according the luxury brand.
Applications are accepted through Aug. 16. Participants will be announced in the fall, and and the lucky award recipient early next year.
