The RealReal, which calls itself the “world’s largest online marketplace for authenticated, resale luxury goods,” has appointed John E. Koryl its new CEO.
He will also join the company’s board.
Koryl replaces founder and CEO Julie Wainwright, who resigned in June. The site’s current interim co-CEOs, Rati Sahi Levesque and Robert Julian, will remain with the company as president and chief operating officer and chief financial officer, respectively.
Koryl’s new role will involve “streamlining the company’s operations to improve overall client experience, achieve cost savings, and lead the company to profitability.”
The RealReal went public in 2019.
Koryl recently served as president of the digital division of Canadian Tire Corp. Prior to that, he worked at Neiman Marcus as president of stores, and president, Neiman Marcus Direct.
“The RealReal has significant opportunity to capture even more market share in the quickly evolving and fast-growing resale industry,” Koryl said in a statement.
