Daughter of Virginia Jeweler Gets Fireworks Engagement Ring

James T. Messier, president of Arthur’s Jewelry in Bedford, Va., recommended a Fireworks diamond from Varsha Diamonds for a very special client—his daughter Mariel’s boyfriend, purchasing an engagement ring to give Mariel.

Messier knew his daughter wanted an oval diamond in her engagement ring. “The superior cut arrangement in the oval shapes was the selling point for me,” he said about Fireworks Diamonds. “We tend to accept some degree of bow-tie effect in even very well cut oval diamonds. With Fireworks, the bow-tie is nonexistent.”

The jeweler told the story of Mariel’s ring and how he opted for Fireworks in a statement recently released by Varsha: “We first saw Fireworks and met Jay Metha, chief operations officer of Varsha and the founder of the Fireworks Diamonds brand, in March of 2024. At the time, my wife, Cynthia, discussed that our daughter Mariel had expressed an interest in an oval diamond as the center stone when the time arrived for her engagement. In July 2024, we sat down with Jay and opened an account, starting with three oval Fireworks Diamonds for our stock.”

After narrowing down his choices for the best possible stone for Mariel, Messier presented her boyfriend with two rings—each with a 3 ct. diamond but only one of them from Fireworks. “His immediate observation was the spectacular brilliance in the Fireworks diamond,” said Messier. “We discussed the quality characteristics in depth of both diamonds. He decided on the Fireworks.”
