The Unexpected Star of the Super Bowl: Men’s Jewelry

Share

The Super Bowl. It’s a spectacle of sport, a cultural touchstone— and now a surprisingly fertile ground for men’s jewels.

Sunday’s game wasn’t just a battle for the Lombardi Trophy; it was a subtle yet significant display of personal style, with players and performers alike sporting pieces that ranged from classic cool to statement-making extravagance.

Let’s dive into the standout jewelry moments of Super Bowl LIX that had everyone talking.

Kendrick Lamar

Pulitzer Prize–winning rapper Kendrick Lamar made an impact with his halftime performance and what he wore during it. Though his ’70s-esque flared jeans have made headlines, it was his pair of Rahaminov brooches that caught our eye. This is a brand known for rare and ethically sourced gems, and Lamar added to the statement pieces’ allure by styling them in an unexpected way—pinned to the front and back of his hat. Lamar also didn’t miss an opportunity to add fuel to the fire of his feud with Drake, donning a diamond-embellished “a” necklace by Eliantte in reference to a lyric in his diss track, “Not Like Us” (which he won five Grammys for earlier this month).

Tom Brady

Working behind the mike as a commentator rather than on the field as a quarterback, seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady went big with a $740,000 Jacob & Co. Caviar Tourbillon watch. While the specifics of Brady’s watch are likely bespoke, the Caviar Tourbillon collection is celebrated for its use of extraordinary gemstones and complex tourbillon movements, showcasing both technical prowess and bold aesthetics. “Tom Brady is the epitome of excellence, both on and off the field,” said Benjamin Arabov, CEO of Jacob & Co., in a statement. “We’re honored to have him represent the artistry and craftsmanship behind every piece we create.”

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley made a memorable entrance into the Superdome for his first Super Bowl appearance, sporting a Jacob & Co. timepiece on one wrist and a classic tennis bracelet on the other. He opted for a watch from Jacob & Co.’s celestial-inspired Astronomia Solar Zodiac line that’s encased in 18k rose gold and sapphire and features a rotating aventurine base that carries seven cabochon-cut gemstone planets, symbolizing the vastness of the cosmos. Complementing this extraordinary watch was Barkley’s tennis bracelet boasting over 76 carats of brilliant-cut diamonds.

Jon Batiste

Grammy-winning performer and composer Jon Batiste, a New Orleans native, brought his signature flair to the Super Bowl stage, not only with his soulful rendition of the national anthem but also with his jewelry choices. Proving that he can effortlessly blend musical talent with sartorial prowess, Batiste put on some serious bling for the occasion: two Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany Bird on a Rock brooches—one with a breathtaking 12 ct. diamond, the other a vibrant 60 ct. citrine—along with a Lock bangle and a T T1 ring, also from Tiffany & Co. The former Late Show With Stephen Colbert bandleader has often shown an impeccable sense of style, with sharp suits and statement accessories, and his Super Bowl look was no exception.
