A member of The Watch Dealers Network has listed for sale a Royal Skeleton clock commissioned by the Sultan of Brunei. Designed by Asprey, this timepiece was created at a cost of $6 million to grace the sultan’s royal palace, according to the listing information.
The timepiece is crafted entirely of rare rock crystal, 18k gold, and a myriad of precious diamonds, emeralds, rubies and sapphires that embellish every inch of the timepiece. The engraved movement is flanked by two 18k gold tigers climbing either side, all encased in a rock crystal egg topped with a blue and yellow sapphire clasp. When the egg is opened, the entire movement pivots 90 degrees so that the face of the mechanism is fully visible.
The face of the clock is fashioned with gold and blue sapphire-enhanced Roman numerals at the 3, 6, 9, and 12 positions and the back of the movement features a calendar that indicates the date. Beneath the egg are three 18k gold elephants set with flawless diamonds, emeralds, rubies, and sapphires of various sizes.
“We are thrilled to see such an item find its way to our market. Members here and at the IWJG have been dealing in rare and valuable items for years yet previously were not easily accessible to the independent jewelry professional,” said Avi Soffer, chairman of TheWDN. “Clearly now there is a global connection occurring between all of the various parties interested in the buying and selling of all watches of all kinds, giving the competitive edge back to the jeweler”
The item can be bid on by members of TheWDN.com or by contacting membersupport@thewdn.com; 877-5-TheWDN.
