Gold has never been pricier, but you wouldn’t know it based on the size and weight of the standout gold designs poised to hit stores this fall. The dainty layered looks of the past few years, combining delicate pieces into a single highly personalized look, have given way to bold, gold jewels that do double-duty as wearable wealth.
From Paris-based Marie Lichtenberg’s jumbo-size gold letter charms to Fie Isolde’s oversize dangling heart earrings in her signature wax-sculpted, high-polish finish, statement pieces are a theme of the year’s biggest jewelry introductions.
Look to David Yurman, whose new high jewelry collection incorporates a handful of dramatic and weighty deco designs featuring 18k yellow gold chain links set with diamonds in mixed cuts. Or The One I Love NYC, whose 22k gold Diamond Cuff ring is the most luxe take on a cigar band that we’ve ever seen. Or Lizzie Mandler, the Los Angeles–based designer whose Liquid Gold Slider necklace is centered on a 3 ct. oval diamond for maximum wattage.
While the above-named designers have adorned their gold with ice, plenty of jewelers have introduced sculptural, metal-only gold collections in which the finish of the gold is the main attraction. The through line, however, continues to be singular statement style, à la the 1980s (think Dynasty‘s Alexis Carrington meets Run-DMC). One—and done!
