Clovers are instantly recognized as symbols of luck and for their association with the Irish. As St. Patrick’s Day approaches, we’ve rounded up a few fine jewelry clover pieces on the market. But don’t be fooled, they’re designed to bring more than good luck—they also incorporate talismans of love or transformation, making them all the more powerful.
In Foundrae’s design symbolizing both luck and true love, four golden hearts—one of them embellished with a diamond lover’s knot—come together to form a clover.
There’s more than meets the eye even when 10 carats of diamonds are what meets the eye: Inside the diamond-covered heart, a compartment holds a four-leaf clover and is engraved on the rim with 1875 and 1896, suggesting it was originally a 21st-birthday gift. (More about this locket here.)
Gorgeous hand-cut malachite adds a whole new dimension to the classic clover design. As malachite is known as the stone of transformation, this piece combines elements of healing and good fortune.
Marie Lichtenberg’s clover pendant offers a surprising mix of natural material and precious gemstones. It is sold on a 38 cm yellow gold chain but can be put on or layered with other chains.
Clovers appear on all the pieces—earrings, a ring, and a bracelet in addition to this necklace—in the new capsule collection from jewelry brand Mejuri in collaboration with Danish fashion label Ganni. “Our clover symbol was designed to spread a little luck, positivity, and optimism,” said Ganni’s creative director, Ditte Reffstrup. “And we were drawn to the idea of the clover as a lucky charm and a pendant of friendship.”
