With Halloween falling on a Thursday this year, was the best time for Halloween parties this past weekend, or should they be next weekend—closer to, but already past, Oct. 31?
If you answered, “They should be all month long!” you are correct. But if you answered, “November? That’s winter holiday season!” you are also correct.
Even if you’ve subconsciously moved from Halloween to the holidays already, we’ve still got most of this week before the official day of trick-or-treating. For jewelry retailers, that means continuing to embrace spooky season—right up until Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” begins its inevitable yearly overplay come Nov. 1.
Social media apps can help you get into—or stay in—the spirit(s) of Halloween with new holiday-related activations that are exciting and easy to use.
On Instagram, a number of “secret” Halloween features are available to spookify your Stories, with certain keywords and characters activating effects and animations. In direct messages, typing such words as “Halloween,” “Happy Halloween,” and “trick or treat” and Halloween-themed emojis will prompt fun animations to delight those you happen to be chatting with (including customers).
For upping engagement, Instagram has introduced five Halloween “add yours” templates for Stories, which encourage followers to list their favorite Halloween movies, candies, costumes, and more (as pictured above). Find them in the Happy Halloween section of the “Add Yours” templates in Stories.
And finally, a new Halloween font can give special character to any Instagram Stories post, from hauntingly gorgeous jewelry shots to behind-the-scenes peeks at a day in business.
Another social app, Snapchat, has also added Halloween-themed activations, from creepy clown witch lenses (among others) to costumes for your bitmoji, the personalized cartoon avatar of yourself.
