Sotheby’s Opens Salon Inside Bucherer

Share

Sotheby’s has opened an “ultra-luxury” salon on the third floor of Bucherer’s flagship store in Zurich, Switzerland, featuring products from across Sotheby’s portfolio, including jewelry, watches, and handbags and accessories.

Clients will be able to instantly purchase items and bid on live and online auctions. Sotheby’s is also selling sneakers and high-end streetwear, art, and sports memorabilia at the salon. One piece on display is Michael Jordan’s 1998 NBA playoffs jersey, which carries a $1 million–$2 million estimate.

The 160-square-meter (about 1,720 square feet) space will serve a “social destination where collectors gather, learn, and share their passions” and will emphasize “hospitality and experience,” Sotheby’s said in a statement. It includes a custom-designed wine and spirits bar and store curated by Sotheby’s wine master Vanessa Conlin. The auction house plans to host regular events at the space, including classes, tastings, and dinners.

The salon, two years in the making, is the latest of a series of collaborations between Sotheby’s and Bucherer. Sotheby’s has also sold Bucherer’s certified pre-owned inventory in its online marketplace.

Bucherer, which bought the Tourneau chain in 2018, was recently purchased by Rolex.
