On June 7, Sotheby’s is hosting its Magnificent Jewels auction in New York. Two pieces in the 95-lot sale are each expected to fetch between $3 million and $5 million: an unmounted, internally flawless pear-shape diamond weighing over 53 carats and a David Morris diamond necklace with nearly 45 carats of sapphires.
Other highlights come from such prestigious names as Van Cleef & Arpels (including the 1929 “Tie” necklace pictured above), Cartier, René Boivin, Graff, Harry Winston, and JAR. As of May 20, Sotheby’s has introduced a simplified commission structure, reducing buyer fees by 26%—and making these pieces that much more accessible.
Here’s a look at a dozen truly exceptional jewels in the sale.
