TikTok Taking Applications for Holiday Shopping Guide

Heard of #TikTokMadeMeBuyIt? The movement, which focuses heavily on trending products, is basically a staple of the video-based app at this point, and it helps set TikTok apart from other social media platforms.

TikTok is capitalizing on the popularity of the hashtag again this year with its 2024 TikTok Shop Holiday Emporium—billed as an “official gift guide.” Retailers and designers have the chance to be spotlighted in this curation of fan-favorite brands and small businesses.

TikTok is offering two packages for Holiday Emporium applicants. Those who spend a total of $12,500 on Shop ads receive Silver-level benefits such as the opportunity to be featured in the guide; $1,000 in ad credits for the first quarter of 2025; one free AI-generated TikTok video; an exclusive webinar on how to use TikTok Symphony; and TikTok Shop onboarding support.

The Gold package is for brands that spend a total of $19,500 on Shop ads and includes the same benefits as Silver (except the Q1 ad credits increase to $2,500) plus inclusion in TikTok Marketing Campaigns.

Instagram Adds Stickers, Reels Signature Sound

Instagram has introduced 38 additional stickers for dressing up Stories and Reels as well as a new “signature sound” for Reels.

The signature sound is expected to be added to the end of all Reels going forward (similar to how a certain sound plays at the end of every TikTok). “It sounds like you’re jutting into a curb on your skateboard in Tony Hawk Pro Skater, or you’ve clicked the mouse one too many times on an error message,” says Social Media Today, and they’re not wrong. But given time, this will surely become just as familiar a sound as TikTok’s.

In a statement Instagram explained: “From mild to wild, our creative audio and brand teams designed, iterated, and tested a variety of different sounds to land the right vibe: a simple and iconic sound that’s designed to fit with every Reel.”

As for the new stickers, with classic hearts and days of the week, they’re not a revolutionary addition, but they are a nice treat to keep engagement and creation going strong as we head toward the holiday season.
